Believe it or not, the skin is the largest organ of the body. Every day it protects you from all kinds of harmful substances so why don’t more people treat it with care? We’re all so busy in our day to day lives, that it can be easy to forget about moisturising or cleansing our skin but taking five minutes out of the day, specifically for a skin care routine, is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Get into a good skin routine so that your skin stays healthy and looks younger for longer.

You need to care for your skin as you would any other body part so that it can continue to do its job for a long time to come. Everyone’s skin is different, which is why your skin routine may be different to someone else’s but the basics are the same.

Firstly, clean, clean, clean! It is so important to clean your skin properly after wearing makeup. It may be easy to go to bed whilst still wearing a full face of makeup because you’re tired but this is the worst thing you can do for your skin. Make up can block pores and cause major breakouts later. So, what can you do to minimise the chance of breakouts? Exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating means clear, smooth, glowing skin. You should do it at least once a week but no more than three times as this can irritate the skin.

Secondly, drink water. It may sound simple and really obvious but the benefits drinking water has for your skin are underrated. Try and drink at least 8 glasses a day to help your body and skin get rid of any unwanted toxins. There is little doubt that after you increase your water intake, your skin will have a more radiant glow.

Thirdly, facial sunscreen. Whilst the sun’s rays provide the all-important vitamin D that your skin needs, too much of it can dry out your skin as well making it age faster. You should use a facial sunscreen and make sure that your makeup has an SPF count. An SPF foundation on its own is not enough. You need to use a moisturiser of some sort as well in order to really protect your skin.

At Indulgence, we work with you to find out what might be best for your skin; we do this by having an in-depth skin consultation before the facial so that we can get to know your lifestyle as well as the type of skin you have; this means we can advise you on the best methods to keep your skin looking fresh and clean. We believe our facials give some of the best results; we always provide the option of a double cleanse to remove impurities. After we’ve done that, we do an exfoliation customised for your specific skin type and finally, extractions. All this ensures you leave the salon seeing a noticeable difference.

A facial is a great way to start looking after your skin. Once you’ve had the initial cleanse, it will be easier to continue at home with your own skin care routine.  Book in today to start your journey to clearer, smoother skin.
